Professional Standards and Practice
(utilizing Teaching Strategies Gold)
A Rigorous Program for Early Care Professionals

Program Description:

Professional Standards and Practice is a 3 part series over 9 months. This is a rigorous program designed by Vermont Child Care Providers Association, to meet the needs of our members working with young children and their families. The program examines strategies and best practice related to designing and individualizing curriculum and assessment. This program focuses on the characteristics, processes, and roles of early care educators in order to offer opportunities and engage children in experiences that inspire them to acquire new knowledge, develop new skills, seek challenges, and develop qualities for lifelong learning.  In this program we will plan to observe, and observe to plan, improving our practice over time with fidelity.  In addition we will examine family systems theory, the role of the family as the primary context for child development and effective means of communicating to families.

Teaching Strategies GOLD can be used with any developmentally appropriate early childhood curriculum. Grounded in 38 research based objectives that include predictors of school success. Teaching Strategies GOLD truly helps teachers focus on what matters most for school readiness. It can be used to support all types of learners, including children with special needs and children with advanced knowledge and skills.
